These colourful Berber baskets are made from woven leaves / plant fibre which is braided into complex patterns, usually by men in the family. Its intricate work, one small basket can take a couple of days to make. The colourful pattern is then applied by women using left over wool. All baskets are unique.
Traditionally Berber baskets are used for storing Moroccan flat breads and dry goods. They are often given as gifts during weddings and other important ceremonies.
Coming from Morocco, each is handmade in an area North East of Fez.
