When choosing decorative outer pots make sure you get at least one size larger than the plastic nursery pots most plants are supplied in. it's best to put a saucer or drainage stones at the bottom of the pot

Make sure that the inner diameter of the pot you choose is larger than the diameter of the plastic  pot.
