About
Philodendron scandens micans - has heart-shaped heart-shaped leaves that are velvety to the touch and almost quilted in texture. It's from Southeast Asia and can climb trees up to 3 metres in the wild. It is an epiphyte, meaning it has aerial roots that hook on tree branches as it climbs. This plant comes on a moss pole, and its errant vines can be trained to climb further up shelves or ledges, as you like.
In addition to being easy to maintain, the Philodendron is an air-purifying plant.
Pot size: 12cm x 10cm (diameter x height)
Plant Care
- Light: Moderate light levels. Bright indirect light is best, but this plant is very tolerant and will work most places in the home.
- Water: Water generously when the surface of the compost feels dry to the touch. Allow the plant to get a bit drier in winter, and in summer, it should always be a little damp.
- Feed: Apply a weak general purpose fertiliser during the summer.
