A ‘mini monster’ (Monstera minima) which turns any room into a jungle, with its glossy leaves and climbing nature. With its gorgeous foliage it’s a real statement piece, wherever you put it. It’s very easy to take care of and it tolerates low light. This plant is related to the larger Monstera Deliciosa, or Swiss cheese plant, and though it tends to grow sidewards it can be trained up a moss pole, just like it’s bigger sibling.
The reason its leaves have all those holes is because it’s used to growing in jungle shade. It’s an epiphytic vine, which means it grows in crevices in large trees. The gaps in its leaves allow the available light to reach the lowest foliage. The older the plant, the more holes in its leaves.
Light: Best in medium light - lots of light but not direct sun. OK in a semi-shaded spot
Water: leave to dry out a little between waterings. Water whenever the top two inches of soil feel dry.
Humidity: likes a moist atmosphere. Mist every few days, especially when the central heating is on. The beautiful leaves can get dusty, which makes it harder the plant to absorb light, so give them a gentle wipe if they look grubby.
